Yesterday was a crap-ola day. Devree started out being happy that she got to lay on her back and have radiation. But now the radiation is BOOSTED for her brain and as the day progressed she got sicker and sicker. She still couldn't keep down her pills or food or water. She did want to go to a movie and she enjoyed that but was just so sick we went back to the clinic and they put her on an IV and gave her some medication in her IV. After 6 hours we went home. She usually perks up after an IV but we are here this morning because she still is not feeling well. I am so glad Todd is here because it is very draining on you. I am so glad that the "Emergency Room" is right here amongst the clinics. St. Jude's calls it the "Medicine Room". It does give me some worry to go home and if something happens to Devree and going to the Emergency room at home is not like here. St. Jude's immediately get you to a private room and attend to you.
There are other worries back in the west too. Since I have been here with Devree my Father has had stints put in for his heart and received more yesterday. My Mom is also having problems with her heart. I am really glad Todd is here to help me talk out what we can do to help my parents.
So why the title today? We asked a couple of weeks ago for her to get a radiation session on a Saturday so that we didn't have to wait around on that last Monday for her last dose. She will get to do that this Saturday. That means we get to leave 3 Days sooner! That will give us 5 weeks off. HURRAY!

We miss you guys! I am so happy that you get to go home a little bit sooner! Our Netflix just arrived. . . . sorry Todd, it will be Chick Flicks on Saturday and Sunday! We Love You All! See you tomorrow! Aunt Celest and Fam
Celest,
I am fine with a chick flick night. It will be good for a change of pace. We are so grateful for the support we get from you, Breck, and the kids.
Today at lunchtime Devree told us that she wanted pizza. Then after eating pizza she had some peaches, then jerky and some mixed nuts.
As I watched her eating the pizza, I was surprised to find a few tears of joy come to my eyes. This the 3rd day I have been here, and up until now I had only seen Devree eat 7 carrots, and some water. I am so happy to get out of this bad spot.
Today we talked to a nurse that said good hydration seems to be the key. If the patients get dehydrated, you are behind the curve and it is hard to catch up. Our current plan is to have Devree spend the next 8 hours with an IV drip to get her fluids back to normal. An hour has gone by and she looks so much better already. Things are shaping up for Devree to have a very good weekend.
Love,
Todd

That is great news to hear that you get to go home sooner. I called Grandma Rice this morning, and read her the blog posts for the week. My mom has been very busy, so I offered to call G&G Rice. Grandpa is going in today. They couldn't do it yesterday. And, Grandma doesn't want you to worry about them. She says you already have enough to worry about.
love, Koe

Devree, I am so glad that you are getting all hydrated so that we can party again! I'm also glad that Todd is willing to watch Chick-Flicks with us. We will miss you when you go home for your break. . . . .Shana, who is going to organize my drawers while you are gone? You might have your work cut out for you when you get back in April! Love You Guys! Aunt Celest
Hoping that Devree feels better. Yeah for the Saturday radiation!
Ask the doctors here if they can give you a card that you can give to the ER back home if you need to go that says she has low blood counts and needs to be taken to a private room right away. Our hospital in FL used to give those out to BT patients - thankfully we never had to use them - hoping and praying that Devree feels good during her break at home.
