Thoughtful Thursday

Well this day turned out to be a little worse. Devree's MRI showed 3 spots of cancer on her brain that have grown since LPCH and 3 spots on her spine that were not on her previous MRI's She is already at high risk so this is just some more bad news. There are a multitude of bad things. The radiation and the chemo both cause hearing loss. The radiation and chemo both cause sterility. The lumbar punch wasn't able to get any fluid with 3 tries by experts. But because of the other news I don't think they are even going to worry about it. She starts radiation on Wednesday with 33 days of radiation and higher amounts. The Radiation Therapist suggested to shave her hair immediately because that will help with getting the right parimeters. Devree said she will shave her head on Sunday after church. She says "I'll get to adopt!".

I continue to read my scriptures and say my prayers. I am thankful for all of your faith and prayers to help all of us get through this.

Oh, you guys. . . I don't even have words for this. I'm so sorry for the news you got today. I wish there were things I could do and say for you to make it all better. I do know that you are in the hands of experts there at St. Judes. And I do know that you, and the rest of us, are all in our Heavenly Father's hands. We can't now see His reasons, but we can always feel His love and concern for us. How intensely we pray for you and your family, and we promise we will continue doing that with even greater effort and faith. Wish we could do more. We love your incredible family!

I don't have words either. I can't even imagine how this might feel. But I, too, know that it's in the Lord's hands. He has a plan and we all have our parts. He has placed you with some AMAZING doctors who are well educated. The BEST for Devree. We never miss praying for your sweet family. The kids are so concerned for Devree's health. We will continue to exercise our faith...with greater effort...as Paula put it.

I have been thinking of your family all day. You sound so busy and its such a rollercoaster: good news one day, bad news the next. Stay strong. I wish the best for you and it sounds like you have it. That is great you will have a more permanant place to reside and that is wonderful they are taking such great care of you. Remember you are all in our thoughts and prayers.

I was thinking about your family all day today. Heavenly Father has opened the path for you to get to the best place for Devree. What a blessing! We always pray for you. I wish you could hear little Aspen when she blesses Devree...

My heart goes out to your family. I just want you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Shana I missed you today, I visited Debbie and Brenda. They also said that they are praying for your family. Thank you for being such great examples of this months VT message. You truly are examples of standing strong and immovable in faith. We love and pray for you.

We're praying for you and thinking of you every day. We enjoyed watching Shay and Stephen play basketball this evening. They didn't win, but I think they had a lot of fun.

hey Devree,
The news today isn't so hot....radiation is tough stuff!!! My aunt went through it she had cancer on her neck. The radiation made her loose her hair (so wise chose just to chop it off before it happens), and she got really tired and was in a bed almost the entire time she had to go through it, but now almost a year or 2 after she is teaching again at the school she taught at. She does everything that she use to and more. You rock!!! It is like a dance i guess or getting ready for a party. You take forever to get ready, it is tiring and draw out, but you do it all the same because you know that when all that work is done and over with and you are ready to go and face the lights of the party, you can enjoy yourself and have good time LIVING LIFE.

Love,

Your other brother
(Manny)

I wrote something, but after reading Manny's post again, I didn't like what I said so I had to delete my post. I want to say "DITTO" to Manny's post. This radiation thing won't last forever, and then you can get back to living life and having fun. Oh, and Teara says, "Hi, and I love you!" We all do!!!

I am so sorry to hear the bad news. Hopefully this is the end of bad news and only good news is to come... I am so grateful for the example of strength you have been to me, my family, and the YW. You truly are an example of believers (the 2009 youth theme) We are so lucky you have come into our lives. You are always in my thoughts and prayers!

Hambilns, I'm going to get angry with you. If you want someone to scream with, or throw things, I'm here. DANG IT!! I hate cancer! The uninvited guest is ruining your party- and bringing his friends along. Your family is so strong and positive and an inspiration for anyone going through a trial. There are a million people praying for you right now.
Hugs,
Darcy
